Movie Review: 80 for Brady

Four friends, all Tom Brady and New England Patriots fans, win four tickets to the 2017 Super Bowl. The tickets turn out to be fake but, no matter. Through misadventures and an unwavering love for each other, they find a way into the game with the help of Billy Porter and inspire Tom Brady to have one of the biggest comebacks in NFL history.

What breaths life into this film are the leads, Sally Field, Rita Moreno, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin. The jokes would have fallen flat if it had been anyone else. The script is fine, but it’s the four friends overcoming every obstacle with grace is what really sells it.

It’s fun to see Gronk and Tom Brady in cameos, as well as other players, even if it does seem a bit like an advertisement for the NFL. A fun film with a few laughs and a whole lot of heart.
