This novel follows the adult daughter of a serial killer who, twenty years after her father was imprisoned, finds herself in the middle of a new serial killer investigation. Her brother does not like her fiancé and a New York Times reporter is harassing her and her mother, but when a patient of hers disappears right outside her office, she must search for the truth.
I was really drawn into this book by the premise and that was what kept me interested even when I could tell that certain plot points were red herrings meant to shift the reader’s attention from the real killer. I let it slide though for the author tried really hard here and the writing is engrossing enough that I didn’t mind that I knew where it was headed.
There is a twist at the end though that I didn’t see coming, not about who the new killer was in case you were wondering. I can’t say more without giving it away so you’ll just have to read to find out.
I give this one four out of five stars for it did get me with a last minute twist at the end.
