Movie Review: Love Lies Bleeding

Was hard not to obsess over this one because I was looking forward to it so much, but tried to go in as blind as possible. I wasn’t disappointed.

Kristen Stewart plays Lou, an introverted gym manager. She meets Jackie, a body builder on her way to Vegas. They start a love affair that quickly descends into violence when Lou’s maritally abused sister and estranged father get involved.

I’m not going to give you more of the plot because the rest deserves to be seen without knowing what is coming. Honestly, the surprises keep coming and the ending is so surprisingly, brilliantly bizarre that it’ll have you close to clapping.

Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian are superb and have chemistry for days. Jena Malone and Ed Harris are great additions and I didn’t even mind Dave Franco who I’m normally not a fan of. I wish there had been more Jena Malone, but I always wish there was more Jena Malone. The world needs more Jena Malone.

Rose Glass is at the top of her game. She has given us an 80’s throwback that feels fresh and new whilst bloodying up her cast. The last time I was this surprised was with John Wick, so I highly recommend this film.

Five out of five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
