Movie Review: Talk to Me

I’ve been a huge fan of Aussie horror since Wolf Creek was released years ago. I was thrilled when I saw Talk to Me was getting a wide release.

A group of high school age friends takes turns touching a ceramic hand which allows souls in purgatory to take over their minds. When one of them lets the spirits stay too long, he ends up in purgatory himself and his friends have to figure out how to help him.

Like many teenage films that came before it, the kids have no idea what they are dealing with until it’s too late. The main character is also dealing with the loss of her mom so in many ways, the film is about her grief as the spirits use her loss against her.

This horror film goes for it in an unrelenting look at how far evil will go to take over your mind. It’s heartbreaking and shockingly brutal.

4.5 out of 5 stars. See this one in the theater. It deserves to be seen on the big screen.
