Starring Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan, She Said chronicles the true story of how two New York Times journalists investigated how deeply the Harvey Weinstein went. When they realize it was much more than just some sexual harassment, that there was a culture of rape, abuse, bullying, and coverups, they struggle to find women who were willing to come forward publicly.
This film is well written, but it’s the acting that really sells it. Mulligan and Kazan bring their A game, but it’s Jennifer Ehly who’s character struggles with breast cancer while deciding to come forward who shines brightest.
It’s hard to write a review of this without using the word poignant, because that’s what She Said is. A film for our times as current events find women having their rights stripped away. A great film directed by female director who had a lot to say.
