Book Review – The Bird Eater by Ania Ahlborn

When a man returns to his childhood home after his son dies, he begins to see a boy who likes to eat birds. Ravaged by grief, he realizes that the tragedies of his past were the fault of something evil lurking in the house he grew up in.

The Bird Eater is one of those relentless horror stories that follows the main character as they descend into madness. The main character does not understand that what he is seeing isn’t real until the supernatural force has warn his defenses down completely.

Ahlborn’s writing is brilliant, sometimes rhythmic and often bluntly honest when it comes to the flaws of her characters. She is good at writing people at their best, and excels when the characters are at their worst. this was an excellent October spooky season read.

I give this little novel, a short but good read, four out of four bloody birds of prey. 🦅🦅🦅🦅
